Celebrities Who Are Vegan

Celebrities have the power to influence the way we think and behave. Therefore, we have dedicated the following article to the famous people who have embraced veganism in an attempt to change the world and make it a better place. Some of the stars on our list are well-known for their views on saving the planet and preserving animals. Others have not been so vocal about their choice to become vegan, so a few of the names listed here might surprise you.

Is Veganism Simply Another Trend among the Rich and Famous?

Celebrities have always been at the forefront of any new trends that have appeared in all areas of life. So, it is only natural to ask yourself if some of the stars who promote veganism are really serious about it or they have only been quick to jump into another rising trend. Nonetheless, we must state that we firmly believe most of the celebrities on our list have deep reasons to support a lifestyle that promotes an animal cruelty-free outlook and healthy living.

Moby

Moby has been a veteran among celebrities in the world of veganism. He has been a vegan since 1987. The American music artist has been a vocal advocate for animal rights, so there is hardly anyone surprised by the fact that he is vegan.

Moby’s veganism story is quite interesting. The musician first cut meat out of his diet at the age of 19. The reason was his cat named Tucker. The artist told the famous Rolling Stone magazine in an interview that he was ready to do whatever it takes to protect Tucker and make him happy.

In Moby’s words, he realized that the cat and his fellow animals had “amazing brains” and rich emotional lives. So, he swore, he would do anything to keep them safe and prevent their suffering. Since then, the US musician has engaged in various initiatives to protect animals. He even gave a famous TEDx talk on the topic of “Why I’m a Vegan.”

However, this is not all. In 2015, Moby opened a vegan restaurant in Los Angeles called the “Little Pine,” where all profits go as donations to animal rights organizations worldwide. He has also portrayed his journey to veganism with several tattoos on his neck and arms. The tattoos have been created by another vegan celebrity we will discuss in this article, Kat Von D.

Kat Von D

Reality show celebrity and renowned tattoo artist Kat Von D decided to transition to veganism after she watched the famous documentary “Forks Over Knives.” The movie depicts how most, if not all, chronic diseases can be positively impacted by cutting animal-based and processed foods out of our diet.

Embracing veganism came as a natural choice for Kat Von D, who had been a vegetarian for many years. Additionally, she took the step to transition her make-up collection into a fully vegan brand. She later sold it and began new vegan adventures, such as a vegan shoe collection handcrafted in Italy.

Billie Eilish

Teenage idol Billie Eilish was raised in a vegetarian household, so switching to veganism was not a tough choice for her. She has said she made the transition because she loved animals and could not endure animal cruelty.

The musician regularly uses her social media accounts to encourage her millions of followers to become vegan and promote a world free of animal cruelty. In 2018, she even showed a documentary on an Indian dairy farm to inform the world on the suffering of cows and plead involvement on behalf of her admirers.

Joaquin Phoenix

Joaquin Phoenix has also been vegan from an early age. He quit animal food when he was 3 years old after witnessing a fish being brutally killed. Phoenix has been an adamant advocate for combating animal cruelty and uses his celebrity status to promote the cause all the time.

He regularly attends vigils and protests and has been featured in several billboard ads for PETA. In February 2020, upon accepting his Academy Award, he gave a powerful speech on the cruelty of the modern dairy industry. Only a few hours later, the actor was documented liberating cows from slaughter.

Lionel Messi

Messi transitioned to a vegan diet last year to enhance his world cup performance. Wonder why he doesn’t get injured often? Maybe the answer is in his diet. The absence of fizzy drinks and chocolate from his diet, Messi said, put a stop to stomach issues and made him feel much healthier.

The Argentine says the indigenous diets are frequently heavily concentrated on animal products, but he feels better when he reduces his meat intake and focuses rather on whole grains, fresh fruits, and lots of vegetables. Messi continued his outstanding prime thanks to this adjustment, which put him back on the winning path.

Lewis Hamilton

British Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton is also a fervent proponent of veganism. Hamilton has been a vegan since 2017. He went on a plant-based diet with the ultimate goal of improving his athletic performance and helping the environment.

Hamilton is another celebrity who ventured into the food industry inspired by veganism. He owns a plant-based burger restaurant chain called Neat Burger. You can visit the London venues on Regent Street and in Camden Market to grab a delicious bite of animal-free fast food treats.

Actually, Hamilton has gone so far as to convert his family bulldog called Roscoe into a vegan. In the racer’s words, the dog has been feeling great since changing his diet. The reason Hamilton decided to put Roscoe on a plant-based food regimen was that his pet had been suffering from severe health issues common for his breed.
